Churchill debates actual intellectual, inevitable smack-down occurs (ht Leah)
Excerpt:
[Author and Reagan policy advisor Dinesh] D’Souza discussed how the world has progressed and benefited from the influences of Western civilization. According to D’Souza, Western civilization has humanized the world. He noted that while Western civilization participated in slavery, abolitionism is a uniquely Western concept.
“The Chinese had slaves, the Indians had slaves, even the American Indians had slaves before Columbus ever step [sic] foot on this continent. It is not slavery that is Western, it is abolition.”
D’Souza also noted that the idea of human rights and democracy are rooted in the Christian idea that everyone is created equal in God’s eyes and that the West became superior because it advanced science, democracy and capitalism. Buttressing his claim of Western superiority, D’Souza observed that it was the Europeans who sailed to America and not the American Indians who sailed to Europe.“Not all cultures are equal,” D’Souza said.
[...]
[ProfessorWard] Churchill responded by attacking D’Souza as arrogant and saying that D’Souza’s mind needed to be decolonized. He condemned the West for popularizing the slave trade and the US for breaching its treaties with indigenous nations. He claimed that the West waged a genocidal war against American Indians with weapons and small pox.
Gee, hasn't someone thoroughly debunked that intentional small pox infliction thing? We heard somebody even got fired over it. The name will come to us in a minute or so.

Well, at least he's off the streets: Churchill campaigning with McKinney

From our Jesus, I Can't Get Arrested In This Town department:
Update: We find an odd channel 7 (Denver) article that asserts "[Churchill] was eventually fired from his job in Boulder for research misconduct and work with the Martin Luther King Collegium of Scholars." Also odd that we can find no reference to the "Martin Luther King Collegium of Scholars" on the internet that is not associated with Churchill's own PR (there are 63 of those). There are, however, many mentions of the Martin Luther King Colloquium of Scholars, including one on The Perfesser's own c.v., but he appears to have gotten that from Morehouse University, not Morehouse College.

Our erstwhile collaborator, zombie (see here), has uncovered one of Bill Ayers' earlier works, dedicated to, among others, Sirhan Sirhan, and written back around the time Ward Churchill claims he was teaching Ayers, et alia, how to build bombs and "which end the bullets go" (coincidentally about the same time Ayers' girlfriend and a couple of others turned themselves into hamburger helper in a Greenwich Village brownstone while building bombs). Quelle surprise, turns out the fine distinguished professor Ayers—Billy, as he liked to call himself then—was a communist. Wonder which party he belongs to now.... (ht lgf)

Excerpt [sic passim]:
This past weekend I took part in an important strategy session with Senator Obama and his aides. It has become clear that the white man who use every dirty trick possible to prevent Senator Obama from becoming the next U.S. President. What is needed now, more than ever, is a resolute and firm commitment to the truth which will lead to Senator Obama's victory.
Obama is too important to be mislead and defeated by the likes of John McCain or his attack dog bitch, Palin. It is a gross insult to all African men that she is even allowed to mention the name Obama.
Like an impotent and false God, Bush tries to scare Africans with his hurricanes and threats of war. We all look forward to the day when Obama sentences him to justice.
Justice and the TRUTH requires that Obama wins this November.
BTW: this alleged history professor [see Update III below] has also submitted Star Trek to his critical thimking. Unintentional hilarity ensues.
Update: We just noticed the second sentence in the excerpt above seems to be missing a verb.
Update II: Closer to home (and not a moment too soon), Mike Adams discovers an upper division university class that will help us all interact with, among others, the author of the excerpt above.
Update III: We're calling bullshit on the above-excerpted blog. We believe the writer to be someone in the U.S. rather than the Central African Republic, and we suspect the blog is either a honeypot for white supremacists or a false front for white supremacists. To what end? Who knows? Could be to de-legitimize "Black history" (which needs little help in that regard, quite frankly) or to provide legitimacy to white bigotry in the same manner the phony Protocols of the Elders of Zion is used to provide legitimacy to the hatred of Jews. Or perhaps the blog exists entirely to de-legitimize the candidacy of Barack Obama (again, something that, at this late date, needs little help in that regard). Yes, there's still a possibility that the utter lunacy is the product of a CAR university history professor, but we're guessing Not.
* Yes, we know. We had to go to another continent to find an academic (in this case, a history professor) more irrational than some among our homegrown crop. So what.

How can one fail to be impressed with a guild that counts convicted cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal among its governing members? We submit that one cannot.
Update: It strikes us a tad ironic that The Perfesser continues to pop up on college campuses complaining that he is not allowed to speak his mind on college campuses. Apparently, lying doesn't count for academic freedom points unless you get paid to lie, preferably by involuntary payees.

The New & Vastly Unimproved WardChurchill.Net is up and running, with few changes except for a nifty medicine-wheel graphic that appears to invite us to resist—among other things—"the latest news", and a link to some site called "uncutconscience.com" where we find a large chunk of The Perfesser's Social Text screed "The Myth of Academic Freedom". PB readers may remember we posted a very short excerpt from the article a while back under the title "The Myth of Ward Churchill's Scholarship". BTW: the uncutconscience link is entitled "Ward's Word" but we'll refrain from speculating on how much that's worth.
Update: the N&VUWCN lifts a Silver & Gold article (no doubt with permission) from back in July (jeez, we missed it entirely!) that says the jury trial of The Perfesser v. CU is scheduled to begin March 9, 2009.

Churchill's dog, Benjie appears to have finally noticed his irrelevance. Somebody calling himself "Glenn Spagnoulo" eulogizes DBAB Central in the comments:
It is a sad day when the voice of truth in this cesspool of depravity is silenced. You will be missed. The good thing is that in a week or two, a new venture will be launched starting right here in Denver that will challenge the status quo. Thanks for the many memories and I am sure the Claire Ryders, Adam Jungks, JoJos, Nojs (Ernestos) and their elk will be celebrating the fact that their behavior will once again become secret. To bad you never did get Adam’s badge number. Your return will be anticipated with baited breadth. Like many others, you served as a source of entertainment for us and I’m still laughing at many of your post.We wish all the celebrants (especially the elk) a happy time baiting their breadths (in renewed secrecy, of course), and note that we, too, have seen DBAB Central (or, as "Glenn" calls it, "this cesspool of depravity") as a source of entertainment, and that we, too, are still laughing.
Update: Westword's Michael Roberts gives little Benjie one last public sloppy-wet kiss goodbye, followed, no doubt, by one on the lips.
